The fast pace of today’s world is indeed robbing our children of their innocence and their childhood. Urbanisation, westernisation and nuclearisation have all had an impact on how we bring up our children and makes us realise how parenting today’s kids has become both a challenge as well as a responsibility.
Ajmera Global School lived up to its conviction that ‘Together we can and we will make a difference’ as it organised the workshop on ‘Parenting’ in collaboration with Ayaksha, the medical company in tie-up with the school. The workshop conducted by Mr. Mihir Shah of School of Ur life [SOUL] Foundation, was an eye opener and fabulous in its content.
`Children learn, what they live’, a beautiful poem by Dorothy Nolte brings out the essence of how important a role, we as parents play, in the upbringing of our children. Top class schools and institutions add the icing to the cake that parents need to bake, first. Parents are their first teachers, their windows to the world, who give them a peek into the ever growing bubble outside.
“If children learn to live with acceptance, they learn to love”, a part of the poem makes us realise, how it is important for us to accept each other as well as accept our children for what they are, to help them love. “The love story” needs to be seen to be inculcated; a mindset changing concept was brought out by Mr Shah in order to help the children grow into shinning individuals.
An extremely informative, effective and entertaining workshop, it taught parents not only how to be good parents but also brought home that only parents are responsible for how their children shape up.
Such initiatives by the school reinforce the learner profiles that IB so vehemently emphasises on. No one is born as a parent and the need to learn on the job can be achieved only with open mindedness to change and to learn.
