On July 2, Kiit International School celebrated its seventh Foundation Day amidst much galore and fanfare. Honorable minister for Human Resource Development, Dr. M. Mangapati Pallam Raju was the chief guest along with minister for Mass Education, Government of Odisha, Rabi Narayan Nanda and Dr. Prasanna Kumar Patasani, member of Parliament who were the guests of honour. Padmashree Ruskin Bond presided over the function in the presence of the founder, Dr. Achyuta Samanta.
Dr. Samanta welcomed the chief guest, highlighting his versatility, entrepreneurial skills together with his impeccable educational credentials. Dr. Raju emphasized on the need for education and highlighted the importance of reading in the lives of children giving the instance of Ruskin Bond, and how he has brought alive the quaint hill town of Landour, near Mussoorie in his stories. He also lauded Dr. Samanta for his successful initiative in KISS, hoping that such models could be replicated and sustained in all other states for the poor and needy children. Dr. Patasani exhorted the students to take a leaf out of Dr. Samanta's philosophy which he expressed so beautifully 'Think Global, Work Local'. Shri R.N. Nanda highlighted Odisha's role as an education with Dr. Samanta as a pioneer in the field. Mr. Ruskin Bond encouraged students to carry forth the youthful vigor of the school beyond its boundaries. Chairperson, Dr. Mona Lisa Bal thanked the dignitaries for their valuable interface with the students and the school team for its readiness to do their best and commitment towards excellence.
On the occasion, some teachers were honoured with a citation and trophy, for the exceptional performance of their students. Awards of Excellence were presented to Eneja Kumar Sahoo, Nihita Ahya, Hiranmayee Padhi and Theodora Fernandez. The Investiture Ceremony of the First Students' Government of the School along with the Students' Council was also a highlight of the celebrations. All rounders and academic toppers were also awarded. The celebration culminated with the cutting of the cake and the entire school savored their share of sweetness.
