Jain International Residential School has a unique feature of celebrating all festivals with gaiety and fervor. The birth of Lord KRISHNA was celebrated with religious fervour blending with spiritualism, tradition and cultural events in the school premises. The campus was bedecked with hundreds of lamps and garlands of flowers everywhere for the occasion. In keeping with tradition the celebration began with bhajans and devotional songs sung in praise of the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu the natkhat nand gopal. Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated on 25th of August 2015 at JIRS. The students were all dressed in their traditional attires. The school orchestra played a few bhajans and songs pertaining to the occasion. A two hour cultural programme was organized for the evening which comprised of Dance drama and folk dance. The function started with a wonderful singing & dancing house wise competition by all children and it was fascinating to see the wonderful talent of children. The hallmark was the spectacular dance performance by children.Students proceeded to the“madki phodo” area for the breaking of the madki where over 50 madkas were strung on poles 15 feet to 20 feet height. They formed human pyramids and worked together to break the pots. Later, they proceeded for pooja and arthi at the reception, devoted to lord Krishna. Prasad was then offered to the students, who headed back to their dorms after a very eventful and enticing evening. The ambience in the school wore a festive and sacred look with Lord Krishna Jhulas beautifully decorated were swung by children with love and devotion.
