Pearson Education’s new CEO

Ranu kawatra has been appointed the new noida-based president and chief executive of Pearson Education, India, a business vertical of Pearson India — the wholly-owned subsidiary of London-based Pearson Plc (aggregate revenue: £5,663 million or Rs.41,340 crore in 2010) and reportedly the world’s largest education company.

An alumnus of the Shri Ram College of Commerce and Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University, Kawatra began his professional career in Cadbury India and served with Gillette India (1991-2006) supervising the company’s marketing and business development operations in India, the Middle East and Africa, prior to signing up with iDiscoveri India as chief advocacy advisor in 2006.

“The education sector is at an interesting inflection point and is attracting considerable investment. I now have the opportunity to take forward Pearson Education’s multiple path-breaking education initiatives in this domain.
