Global Indian International School (GIIS), Chinchwad strongly professes “Leadership” as an important and imperative skill of the 21st century. We also believe that leadership is best developed when imbibed from the foundation years and hence the school observes the Investiture Ceremony as a platform for nurturing the future leaders. The student senate for the year 2017-18 was inducted on April 28, 2017 where they solemnly took the oath to keep the flag of the school flying high. The 7th Investiture Ceremony witnessed a 76 member student senate being conferred with their badge of honor.
The ceremony began with invocation and the lamp lighting ceremony to seek the blessings of the almighty. A song rendition by the school choir added charm to the entire event and the melody reverberated in the air. The semi-classical dance performance by the students mesmerised the audience and embellished the ceremony with beauty, grace and poise. The chief guest for the ceremony was Prashant Jagtap, ex-Mayor of Pune city and also the youngest to receive this honour. Ms Varsha Seshan, author, was the guest of honour for the ceremony. While addressing the gathering, Shri Jagtap congratulated the school for identifying the leaders and giving them a chance to exercise their duties and responsibilities efficiently.
Dr Vohra on the occasion congratulated the students and the parents. Through her inspiring words, she said, “Great leaders do not set out to be a leader…they set out to make a difference and this opportunity of setting a benchmark has been given to you since you are the best.” She urged them to dawn on their responsibility. She also administered the oath to the senate where each leader promised to justify their positions through their actions.
Rakshit Rao and Ayushie Patel are the chosen leaders of the senate as the Head Boy and the Head Girl and they will be assisted by the Deputy Head Boy and Head Girl - Ritvik Sharma and Pranjal Swami. The other key rank holders in the Discipline committee are Rishab Kulkarni, Samyukta Pathak and Abhishek Lele while the Sports committee will be led by Soumya Gopavarapu and Bosco Chanam.
