Global Indian International School (GIIS), Chinchwad has time and again proved the mettle of its students not only in academics but in allied spaces of sports, art and other ECA/CCA verticals. It was a matter of pride yet again for the school as its students brought glory by emerging as champions in the Inter GIIS Sports Championship held at GIIS Indore on March 30 and 31, 2017.
The tournament received 120 participants from all the GIIS campuses in India, namely Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chinchwad, Indore, Noida, and Surat. It was a matter of great honour for the school to have Kirti Patel-MP Ranji Team Chairman as chief guest. His presence encouraged all the players and his words of wisdom truly boosted all of them. As a guest of honour, Mr. Rajeev Katyal, Country Director Global Indian International School-India & Japan, spoke about the value of sportsmanship in one’s life and enlightened everybody how GIIS Schools give equal importance to sports across Asia. He also shared his happiness on the laurels the students have bagged throughout the year.
While unfolding the tournament, the students between grades 5 through 8 competed for the chess competition, football and cricket matches where they gave a tough fight to the competing team. It stood 1st in Chess championship with 10 points against GIIS Bangalore team, and also won the Football match by defeating Global School-Noida 4-1.
On the occasion, the school principal Dr Amrita Vohra said, “I congratulate our teams and players for their magnificent performances and making us proud. The school will continue to lay its effort on sports education to nurture the future sporting talents of this country.”
