The UK based University of Southampton, in collaboration with the British Council India, has announced two ‘GREAT-Southampton-India Scholarships’. These scholarships are available exclusively to Indian students who want to pursue a taught Masters degree programme at the university’s Faculty of Social Sciences, in the session commencing from September 2018. Each scholarship will cover the entire tuition fee of the student.
Over the years, several Indian students have excelled in a plethora of disciplines at the University of Southampton. The GREAT-Southampton-India Scholarships have been announced to provide sound financial support to meritorious Indian students so as to encourage them to enroll for a programme at the university.
These scholarships are applicable for over 50 taught Masters programmes offered at the Faculty of Social Sciences in subjects such as Economics, Social Statistics, Demography, Global Health, Gerontology, Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology, Political Sciences, International Relations, Mathematical Sciences, Education, Business and Management Studies as well as Legal Studies.
Applicants must be Indian nationals residing in India and considering submitting a fresh application to any relevant degree programme starting in September 2018. Those who currently hold a conditional or unconditional offer to any of the eligible taught Masters programme at the University of Southampton are also eligible. However, the scheme is not available for those who are in receipt of any funding either from University of Southampton or any external funding body.
University of Southampton is ranked among the top 1 percent of universities worldwide. In the Times Higher Education Table 2016, the university is placed 9th amongst the UK’s 24 leading, research-intensive universities that form the Russell Group. According to the QS World University Rankings 2016-17, University of Southampton is ranked 87th in the entire world and 17th amongst the UK universities. It is also placed at the 121st position in the world and 16th amongst UK universities as per the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2016-17. The Guardian University Guide 2017 places University of Southampton at 16th position amongst the UK universities, with 15 of its subject areas ranked in the top 10.

How to Apply: The students are required to complete the GREAT-Southampton-India Scholarships application through the University’s Postgraduate Admission System - https://www.southampton.ac.uk/courses/taught-postgraduate.page and then forward their application reference number to the fshms-partnerships@soton.ac.uk
Application Deadline: The last date to apply for the scholarships is July 15, 2018.
