The Medical Council of India’s academic council has drafted the new curriculum for Under Graduate Medical Education scheduled for implementation from 2019-20. The existing decades old curriculum will be replaced by the new integrated competency based curriculum drafted on the guidelines of World Federation for Medical Education.
The new curriculum is intended to make students patient-friendly, competitive, ethical and abreast with the latest in the medical sciences along with emphasis on skills and competency.
The new integrated curriculum will have offer practical training to MBBS students from the first year with integration of competency-based tests which will offer students early clinical exposure.
