Climate Jamboree invites youth to be part of a first-of-its-kind sustainability campaign

Climate Jamboree - an initiative of TERI School of Advanced Studies and a first of its kind youth driven movement - invites youth to ideate, innovate and create a sustainable living system for themselves and future generations through a series of lead up events running from June through October 2018. The winners will be awarded and their innovation will also be presented in the finale of Climate Jamboree, scheduled on November 1-3, 2018.

The lead up events are designed to start an engagement process for youth from different disciplines and different walks of life with sustainability thinking, which would get honed further in the finale.

Various run-up technical sessions, special events, roundtable discussions and workshops on various facets of climate change and sustainable development will be a part of the event to engage and enthuse youth towards climate stewardship that will be honing the skills of youth volunteers and actors to stir a movement. The 10 lead up events include:

‘Clip & Tell’ - a campaign, which invites youth to critically analyse any film/serial of their choice from a sustainability messaging perspective and create awareness for the Indian media producers on their role in shaping attitudes and behaviours towards a sustainable future.

‘Green on my Plate’ aims to sensitise youth on the challenge of how to create an experiential learning on sustainable food and the opportunities to minimise food wastage on a daily basis. It will also focus on reducing green house emissions and waste. Registration closing date to be disclosed soon.

‘Still More to Life’ brings forth the struggle to survive and sustenance of service providers (like cook, domestic worker, gardener, garbage worker, etc) in the context of SDGs, through photo narratives.

‘Wheels of Change’ aims to create awareness and urge youth to make responsible decisions regarding the huge scope of improvement in the sphere of transport and its design with respect to travel safety, and mobility and accessibility for the differently –abled and when it comes to their means of transport. ‘Legal Eyes’ invites law students to identify and analyse an appropriate legal decision taken in the last 3 to 5 years and critique it for its possible impact on any aspect of sustainability. Registration closes on August 20, 2018.

‘Watt a Change’ urges youth to think of alternative and innovative ideas on energy conservation and effectively manage their everyday energy consumption. Registration closing date to be disclosed soon.

‘Art from the Heart’ - a performing art based learning initiative - aims to sensitise the youth on urgent environmental and sustainability matters. Registration closes on August 6, 2018.

‘You Can’ is an initiative to mobilise students of schools and colleges to address social or environmental issues through their innovation and come with out-of-the-box ideas which will have maximum impact, can be replicated, is cost effective and have a positive impact in everyone’s lives. Registration closes on August 20, 2018.

‘Urban Shocks’ gives chance to the youth to innovate a mechanism to cope up with different kinds of stresses like quality of air, women’s safety, noise pollution, traffic congestion, water shortage and many more.

‘Green Shift’ creates awareness about how businesses are trying to be more responsible and coming up with creative solutions towards climate change and sustainability. Registration closing date to be disclosed soon.
