Acharya award for Veta founder

Chennai-based V. Rajagopalan, a pioneer of spoken English training in the country, was conferred the prestigious Acharya Award on the occasion of Teachers Day, for his remarkable contribution to English language learning. The award was presented at Guru Samarpan, where 14 teachers from diverse fields, including carnatic music, sports, and theatre were felicitated.

Rajagopalan is the founder chairman of Veta, billed as India’s largest spoken English training academy. Veta offers customised courses by way of direct training and distance education to several levels of learners. Founded in 1981 as the Vivekananda Institute, currently Veta has more than 200 training centres in 100 cities across India. Over 2.2 million students have been trained by Veta to date.

“This award is indeed an honour for me. It is my dream to empower the youth of the country by providing better training in communicative English,” said Rajagopalan speaking on the occasion.
