Are you satisfied with the Union Budget 2018-19 allocation of Rs.85,010 crore for education?
The Union Budget 2018-19 is truly progressive. Among the laudable initiatives are RISE — Revitalising Infrastructure and System in Education, the integrated B.Ed programme which focuses on teacher training, digital fluency and integration of technology in education, and the prime minister’s research fellows scheme.
What are your Top 5 suggestions for reforming K-12 education?
• Establish an institutional governance framework to ensure quality in education and accountability at every level.
• Develop teaching-learning quality standards for all teachers irrespective of exam board affiliation.
• Focus on teacher training for successful integration of technology in education.
• Sustain the mandates of the new National Education Policy for at least seven years irrespective of change in government.
• Integrate the several school exam boards into a single National Board for K-12 education.
