Cambridge English debut

CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH, a not-for-profit affiliate of the University of Cambridge, UK and a global leader in English language development, introduced its ‘Cambridge English for Schools’ programme in India last month (February).

It’s time to help your students seize these opportunities by beginning their journey of language development,” said Angela Ffrench, director of operations (South and South-East Asia), addressing school principals in Jalandhar (Punjab) on February 24.

Promoted in 1913 in Cambridge UK, Cambridge English (which has its India head office in Chennai) offers English language proficiency assessment and development services to schools, colleges, corporates and governments in 136 countries around the world.

RIGI chooses Tata ClassEdge

The Ryan International Group of Institutions (RIGI), India’s largest chain of owned primary-secondary schools, has selected the Tata ClassEdge teaching-learning programme for its new schools in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.

“We always strive to provide our students with the best educational experience. We are confident Tata ClassEdge with its technology-enabled instructional solutions, will help us provide highly engaging teaching-learning experiences to our teachers as well as students,” said Ryan Pinto, chief executive of RIGI, addressing a news conference in Delhi on February 23.

Added Nirav Khambhati, CEO of Tata ClassEdge: “RIGI’s choice of Tata ClassEdge’s teaching-learning solutions for the group’s state-of-the-art Abu Dhabi and Sharjah schools marks our international debut. After all, sound educational principles are equally applicable across all countries.” Tata ClassEdge is a subsidiary of the Mumbai-based Tata Industries Ltd.

Sagar School valedictory

The valedictory school-leaving function of class XII of The Sagar School, Alwar, was staged on February 18 and presided over by chief guest Dr. Philip Lundberg, senior vice president and campus director of the Modi Academic International Institute-Stratford University, New Delhi. On the occasion, Sagar School’s principal, Jayshree Balasaria, introduced Aditya Bhasin, the president of the newly formed Sagar Alumni Association.

Graduating international students  Nilza Wangmo and Zuren T. Kikon recounted their experiences at the school while the class XI orchestra performed on the occasion.

The vote of thanks was delivered by vice principal, Dr. Deepak Bisht, followed by lunch.

NPSC symposium

The Delhi-based National Progressive Schools Conference (NPSC) discussed ‘Education for Social Engagement and Responsibility’ on February 19-20 during a two-day symposium staged at the national capital’s India International Centre. The conference, chaired by Ameeta Mulla Wattal, principal of the Springdales School, Pusa Rd, Delhi, was attended by over 300 principals and teacher delegates of 150 member schools of NPSC (estb. 1973). Eight schools were inducted into the conference on the occasion.

The keynote speaker of the conference was Prof. Shyam B. Menon, vice chancellor of the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Delhi.  Other stellar speakers who addressed the conference included chief guest Shekhar Gupta, vice chairman of the India Today group of news publications; Rahul Bose, Bollywood star and social activist; Bharat Sharma, director of the Bhoomika Creative Arts Centre, Delhi; Dr. Karan Singh, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha); Dr. Kavita Sharma, president of South Asian University; Prof. Zoya Hasan, professor and former dean, School of Social Sciences of Jawaharlal Nehru University; Dr. Mahesh Rangarajan, director of the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library; Prof. Shiv Visvanathan, professor and vice dean, Centre for Study of Science and Sustainability at the O.P. Jindal Global University, and Maroof Raza, consultant and strategic affairs advisor of the Times Now television news channel.

TKBG preschool launch

Amit Rana, founder of the Delhi-based Sidhartha Educational and Welfare Society and pro vice chairman of the Delhi Public School, Panipat city (estb.2003), inaugurated The Knowledge Bus Global (TKBG) Preschool, Ashok Vihar, Delhi, promoted in collaboration with Knowledge Universe, Singapore — reportedly the most respected preschools chain in South-east Asia — on February 15.

Prior to the launch, master trainers of the Asian International College (AIC), Singapore — a wholly-owned subsidiary of Knowledge Universe — conducted an intensive five-day training programme for TKBG preschool teachers.“Every programme of TKBG is designed to promote interactivity, social skills, age-appropriate learning and best education and early childhood practices for optimising early childhood care and education of pre-primary children. Moreover, all our teachers will be trained by AIC/Knowledge Universe,” said Rana, speaking on the occasion.
