Malhotra’s new assignment

One of the country’s most headhunted school principals with an outstanding track record of placing newly-promoted schools on the rails, Anita Malhotra is the founder-principal of Delhi Public School (DPS), Dwarka, Delhi (1996-2000); DPS, Vasant Vihar, Delhi (2000-02); DPS Dubai (2002-04) and former director DPS, Bangkok (2005). In 2010, once again she was invited to take charge as founder-principal of the mint new Lotus Valley International School (LVIS), Gurgaon.

Newspeg. Established at a project cost of Rs.100 crore by the promoters of the highly successful Lotus Valley International School, Noida (estb. 2004), LVIS, Gurgaon is a state-of-the-art K-12 school affiliated with the CBSE examination board. Currently, the school spread over five acres in the new genre steel and glass city of Gurgaon in the Delhi-NCR region, offers world-class infrastructure and facilities including an indoor swimming pool, virtual golf, tennis courts and playing fields to its 600 students and 60 teachers. Dr. Shyama Chona, the legendary principal of DPS, R.K. Puram is patron and advisor of LVIS, Gurgaon, and former cricket star all-rounder Madan Lal has started a cricket academy in the school, which admitted its first batch in April 2011.

Direct talk. “This is a down-to-earth school designed to prepare children for contemporary life. We have integrated values-based and activity-based education into the curriculum to create an ideal learning environment, in which all children attain their fullest potential. Months of detailed planning have been invested in conceptualising and promoting this K-12 school — challenges of a newborn school are not new to me. Therefore I am confident that LVIS, Gurgaon will quickly be ranked among the top day schools of Delhi-NCR,” says Malhotra.

Future plans. “Having just taken wing, the prime objective of LVIS, Gurgaon is consolidation of operations and filling up its capacity of 2,500 students. Academic and extra-curricular advanc-ement is a process which has been initiated. We’ll make sure we catch up with the country’s premier schools very fast,” says Malhotra confidently.
