Reassuring news

I WAS WHOLLY unaware of the impact of India’s best schools around the world (EW January). It’s reassuring to know that our premier schools are comparable with the best worldwide.  It’s also encouraging to learn of the role Afairs Media & Exhibitions plays in showcasing them across India and abroad. The success of Indian schools in Afairs’ education fairs in Thailand, Korea, and the Middle East is proof that they have the potential to become magnets for foreign students.

Sanjeev Bolia and the Afairs team deserve the gratitude of the education fraternity for enabling India’s top schools and colleges to display their institutions to parents and students abroad. Indian students derive great benefit when they are exposed to different cultures and traditions from a young age.

Overdue message

Re YOUR EDITORAL ‘AAP needs to reach out to new parties’ (EW January), the Aam Aadmi Party  government in Delhi truly represents the aam aadmi or common man who has made it clear that political parties must work for the people and not for their leaders and members.

This is an overdue message for the BJP and Congress steeped in corruption which has ruined the Indian economy.

Curious survey

I AM QUITE taken by surprise with the #20 rank given to Greenwood Preschool, Whitefield in Bangalore’s premier preschools rankings 2013 (EW December). Our preschool is sited on a one-acre campus and is one of the largest in the city. Despite a large capacity of 220 students, we don’t have a single vacancy from October 2013 onwards while our neighbours (who are in the Top 3 of your rankings) are still scouting for admissions.

However, that’s not my point. Actually, we are a team which believes in continuous learning and therefore I am curious to know who surveyed our school. He has received information which is completely contrary to the opinions of admission-seeking parents.

Zero market intelligence

It IS WITH great regret that I must inform you that the EW India Preschool Rankings 2013 are not up to the mark in the case of Bangalore. There are numerous discrepancies in the Hyderabad city rankings as well (EW December).

Oi (Open Interactive) Playschool, Jubilee Hills has been ranked #6 for the third time (2011 to 2013) in Hyderabad. We completely fail to understand the reasoning behind it.

When we were ranked #6 in 2011, we took all necessary steps to take us to the Top 5. For your information, the services Oi Playschool offers are among the best in the preschool industry and it definitely deserves to be in the Top 5. No preschool other than Oi is ISO 9001:2008 certified, which speaks a lot about the quality of our early childhood education.

In Bangalore, Oi Playschool has 12 centres, of which our JP Nagar centre is the biggest, measuring 11,000 sq. ft. The toys and equipment available in our Bangalore playschools are imported and in alignment with children’s physical and mental development needs. In fact, we are the only premium playschool chain in Bangalore which managed to open 12 centres within a span of six months, all of which are doing well with an enrolment of 40+ children in the first year itself.

The survey conducted by your agency has been done with zero market intelligence. No homework, it seems, was carried out on the existing preschools in Bangalore (2013) and the ranking seems more of a convenient job based on last year’s nominations.

Clarification call

I WAS SUPRISED to read Bangalore’s best preschools league table published in the December issue of EducationWorld. I want to know on what basis you have ranked EuroKids, Malleswaram at #16 as the centre was opened only three months back. Also I want to bring to your notice that EuroKids, Malleswaram was wound up in 2010 and began functioning only in end 2013. Please clarify the basis of its ranking.
