The Doon School, Dehradun became the first school in India to implement the on line registration process for its pupils enrolled into the IAYP programme set up by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and now headed by his son HRH Prince Edward. This award is present in one hundred and forty- four countries across the world and so far, more than 8 million young people have benefitted from this award. This award was incepted in 1956 in the UK and eventually spread across the globe. It was introduced in India in 1962.
The IAYP programme has been a key component of the The Doon School’s co-curricular and leadership education since many years. The first fifty two boys registered for the award on August 5, 2014. The group comprised of twenty one bronze, twenty-three silver and eight gold level participants.
IAYP has decided to go online in order to streamline the record keeping process for its participants, a move which is likely to make a huge difference for students and staff at The Doon School. The Senior Deputy Headmaster, Mr. Vinay Pande was the Guest of Honour for the occasion. The other staff present included Mr. Skand Bali, IAYP Award Leader at the Doon School, and Head of National Training Panel for IAYP India, Mr. Nitin Chauhan, Mr. Manish Pant and Dr. Mona Khanna. The process was facilitated by Mr. Priyank Kumar Gupta, Head IT and ORB for IAYP India.
