Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE) at Madurai in Tamil Nadu, is an ISO 9001:2000 certified institute promoted by the eminent industrialist, Late Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar. Established in the year 1957, TCE is affiliated with Anna University and financed by the central and state governments.
TCE offers seven undergraduate programs, fourteen postgraduate programs and doctoral programs in various branches of engineering, science and architecture. All courses offered by TCE are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and have been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation, AICTE, New Delhi.
The college has been ranked No.34 in “India's Top 50 Engineering Colleges of 2011” survey conducted by Careers 360 magazine and finds its place among top 75 engineering colleges in India by the Outlook MDRA survey of India's best professional colleges conducted in June 2012.
The placement cell of TCE aims at training students so as to prepare them for the industry later. Training includes assistance for in-plant training and guidance for further post graduate studies such as M.S., M.Tech and MBA. Periodically, entrepreneurship development programs are also organized.
TCE is sited on a sprawling campus hosting state-of-the-art laboratories, spacious and well-stocked libraries, sports fields, world class computer centre, auditorium and gymnasium. The laboratories and library are kept open beyond class hours as well. Institute Archives provides access to a varied range of printed and electronic material.
TCE offers separate accommodation facilities for boys and girls. All hostels have necessary amenities in place including 24 hour electricity, water supply, canteen, food courts etc.

TCE organizes various seminars, workshops, special lectures, educational and industrial visits, paper presentation contests, design contests, symposiums, technical quizzes, etc., as part of co-scholastic activities. These programs are conducted by groups within the institute like student association, Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (IEEE) - Student Branch, Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), National Cadet Corps (NCC), National Service Scheme (NSS), Rotaract Club, Cultural Association etc.
Admission into B.Arch Degree requires candidates to have passed 10+2 higher secondary examination with 50 percent marks as aggregate, with Mathematics as a subject of study and obtained 80 marks out of 200 in NATA (National Aptitude Test for Architecture) test in any one of the attempts.
A valid TANCET/GATE score is required for admissions to post graduate courses.
Annual tuition fee for the Aided Course at TCE is about Rs. 16,850, while for Self Supporting Course, it is Rs.46,650 per annum.
