Overview
Daly College founded by Sir Henry Daly in 1870, is a co-educational day-cum-residential school. In the Education World-C fore survey of the “India School Rankings - 2012 “, Daly college ranked sixth in the national rankings and is the best boarding school in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
The school is located in Indore in a sprawling 118-acre lush green campus. The school upholds secular and traditional values.
Campus
The school is situated on a sprawling 118-acre lush green campus. There are a large number of playing fields, courts and buildings, some heritage and some modern. The land was donated by the Holkar rulers of Indore.
Sharing the campus with the school is the Daly College Business School. The DCBS is an integral part of the school making DC the only public school to run a business school, affiliated to a British University with an honors degree recognised in India and abroad. Students of DC, after Class XII, are offered preferential admission in the business school.
The school has computer aided learning facilities in classrooms in addition to well equipped laboratories for the sciences, biotechnology, computer education and geography. Computers with internet facilities are available in the library and the student houses.
There is a 30 bed hospital with a resident doctor, lady resident nurses, a resident lady gynecologist and a visiting physiotherapist.
An air-conditioned auditorium, with a capacity to accommodate 1200 people is one of the crowning glories of the school.
Accomodation
Separate accommodation is provided for boys and girls. The menu is planned with care to ensure that the food is nutritious and balanced. There are two dining halls; one for the senior students and another for the juniors. The students' mess committee influences menu planning.
Academics
Academic year runs from July – May and students appear for the All India Secondary School Examination at the end of class X and All India Senior School Certificate Examination at the end of the class XII. The school also offers the IGCSE program of the University of Cambridge International Examinations. The IGCSE program offers English as a second language, Hindi/French, physical enterprise, chemistry, biology, history, geography, and math/India studies. Admissions for the academic year are based on a common admission test for registrations done before October 1 of the following year.
Extra curricular
Sports and other extra curricular activities like dance and choreography, fine arts, music, wood craft, NCC, computers etc are given equal importance. Sports like cricket, football, basketball, squash, swimming, tennis, shooting, and athletics are practiced with excellent instructors for each of the sport.
Admission
The main entry classes are PKG, LKG, Class I, Class IV, Class VI and Class IX. Students are admitted as day scholars from classes PKG to Class III; Classes IV onwards the students are admitted as boarders only.
The common entrance test for admissions is held in November for classes I to IX. For nursery-class III, test and interviews are conducted in November for admission in April. October 1 is the registration deadline.
Fees
The annual fee for day boarders is Rs.82, 615; and for boarders it is Rs.1, 37, 760 payable in two installments.
Achievements
Daly college ranked sixth in the national rankings and is the No 1 boarding school in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
