Overview
Shishuvan School, Matunga is a coeducational day cum residential school affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. The school was originally established in 1972 as Shri. Hirji Bhojraj & Sons Cutchi Visha Oswal Jain Chhatralaya or Matunga Boarding but it formally came into existence in June 2001.
After 5 months of intensive teacher training and completion of the interiors, the school formally opened for its students in October 2001 with 70 students joining Playschool and Nursery. Today, the school boasts 1125 students from Playschool through class X. The first batch of students for the class X board exam appeared in 2012.
Campus
The classrooms are well equipped, spacious and well lit. The furniture is age appropriate, the classrooms are well equipped with books and audio visual equipment for modern teaching-learning methodologies. There are labs for biology, physics, chemistry, geography, mathematics and computer. There is also a separate science and social studies lab for the primary school. There are separate libraries for primary school and secondary school. Parents are also allowed to use the library for reference. There are class libraries in every primary class.
The campus also hosts art and craft rooms, music and dance rooms, special teachers’ rooms for remedial and counseling work, resource rooms with games, puzzles, water play, art and craft for pre-primary and primary sections. The school also houses a multipurpose room used for sand play, extracurricular activities, pre-primary cycling and lunch. The seminar and auditorium is used for performances, competitions, talks by eminent persons from a variety of fields, meetings, film screening and presentations.
The campus hosts two dedicated playgrounds for outdoor sports and a hall for gymnastics. The school’s corridors are used for art, march past, games, clay work and other extracurricular activities.

Academics
The school follows the CISCE curriculum and its teaching methodology is based on the understanding that learning is a shared responsibility of students, teachers and parents. Apart from following textbooks based learning, the school also integrates various other interactive and informal teaching methodologies.
The school focuses on remedial teaching, workshops, sports and extracurricular activities and promotes various clubs for film, pottery, skating, speech and drama, yoga, reading robotics and animation.
Admission
The entry level is nursery and preliminary application forms are issued on November 23 and 24, 2013 from 9.30 am to 1.00 pm. The duly filled in registration forms can be submitted on November 26 and 27, 2013 from 9.30 am to 11.30 am. The child should have completed 3 years before August 31, 2014.
Admissions for Junior KG and higher classes are considered only in case of vacancies.
Achievements
Shishuvan School was selected by British Council for the British council International School Award. The school has also won several interschool and interstate championships in the field of sports.
