Overview

The dream of a visionary, "The Scindia School" has been dominating the city of Gwalior from its hill fortress for more than a century. Founded by late Maharaja Madhav Rao Jayaji Rao Scindia of Gwalior in 1897, the school has acquired laurels and has gained a formidable reputation over the years. Enjoying an all India status it draws boys from various parts of the country from different walks of life. The school offers a rich variety of activities and opportunities for a multi-dimensional growth, making a Scindian an amiable and affable person.

 

Away from the din and noise of the city and yet only fifteen minute drive into it from the hill top, the school is surrounded by picturesque landscape. Located three hundred feet above the level of Gwalior town, the 110 acres campus presents a unique atmosphere and ideal educational environment for students and teachers for all round development.

 

This all residential school for boys with a total strength of approximately 630 students offers twelve houses, four for junior and eight for the senior boys.

Campus

The school has extensive facilities for the benefit of students. Top-notch IT facilities allow students to surf the internet; research information or check e-mail at their own scindia.edu e-mail address. The school has its own data projections system which allows boys to view the latest movies on weekends in the school auditorium.. An excellent, well stocked, library opens every day of the week and until lunch on Sundays. Extensive medical and pastoral care systems take care of students in sickness and in good health. 

Accomodation

The hostels of Scindia School provide excellent accommodation to the students. All the wings of the hostels are supervised by wardens who take care of all the needs of the students. 

Academics

The school offers classes from VI to XII and is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi . The academic year begins in the second week of July and ends in the third week of April.

 

The school has a robust  scholarship  programme designed to take care of the needs of students, of parents and of the school with high priority given to merit.  There is an annual allocation of approximately Rs. 1.00 crore for this purpose.

 

The school curriculum keeps in mind the capabilities of each student and has been designed in a way that the school activities help students learn and practice skills that will help them express their individuality. To nurture the talent of each student, the school has made extensive arrangements that enable the students to learn different arts, crafts and sciences. The school provides a rich variety of activities namely electronics, motor mechanics, photography, clay modeling, wood work, and metal work among others. Apart from enhancing the skills of a student the school offers extensive playfields for physical growth. Students are encouraged to play a wide variety of sports like tennis, squash, football, hockey, swimming, basketball etc. International student exchanges help students broaden their outlook. Students’ self-governed societies and social service programmes have been all constituted in a manner that directly contribute to their all-round development.

Admission

Admissions are granted in classes VI, VII, VIII & IX through an all India level entrance examination (Common Entrance Test). Admission to class XI is based on the availability of seats. The selection criteria include class 10 board examination results and performance in the school's internal admission procedure. The applicant should not have completed eleven/ twelve/ thirteen/fourteen/sixteen years on 1st January of the year in which admission are sought for these classes. New boys are admitted only at the beginning of the Diwali term (July) and are on probation for a year.


Application form for registration is a part of the school prospectus and is provided as a tear-out leaflet. Duly filled registration form along with the registration fee and date of birth certificate issued by the municipal corporation should be submitted to the school. After scrutiny of the registration form the school sends a letter of confirmation of registration along with the registration number. The registration fee details can be obtained from the school office. The registration fee is not refundable under any circumstance. The amount will be paid either in cash or by bank draft in favor of the Principal, Scindia School, Fort, Gwalior, payable at Gwalior only. Cheques are not accepted. The registration is valid for two consecutive attempts of the admission entrance test.


The school prospectus can be obtained from the school administrative office on payment of Rs. 400/-. On written request the prospectus can also be dispatched by post through registered AD or courier on the desired address. For postal dispatch, a demand draft of Rs. 500/- (inland)/ Rs.1000/- (foreign) drawn in favor of Principal, Scindia School, payable at Gwalior is required to be sent along with the written request for the prospectus.
