Overview
Promoted in 2002 by a group of individuals committed to the cause of quality education in India under the leadership of Farhang Azar, the founder, River Dale International School (RIS) is set amidst the Western Ghats on the outskirts of Pune. The school was established with a vision “To create an environment to foster personal growth and the development of individual capacity to transform society through service”. A co-educational residential school, RIS is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), New Delhi and the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), UK.
Spread over 50 acres, the school offers facilities for equestrian horse riding, swimming and 9-ball pool among other sports, besides weekend clubs, art and music education.
Campus
RIS is spread over 50 acres and hosts a range of facilities such as a swimming pool, equestrian arena, tennis, basketball and volleyball court, a cricket and hockey field, and 9-ball pool tables. The school campus is also equipped with a music studio, arts room and a gymnasium. State-of-the-art math, science and computer laboratories, modern teaching aid, a well stocked library and an infirmary are all part of RIS facility offerings, apart from spacious dormitories, dining halls, an auditorium and a tuck shop.
Accomodation
RIS provides on the campus hostel facilities for boys and girls. Each spacious and comfortable dormitory wing houses no more than 10 students and is managed by a dorm parent. The dormitories are provided with study centers and recreation centers.
Academics
The school is affiliated to CISCE, New Delhi, offering the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) curriculum for grades IX and X and the Indian School Certificate (ISC) curriculum for grades XI and XII. Science and commerce streams are offered for both ICSE and ISC curriculum. RIS is affiliated with CIE, UK, for the international programme, offering the globally recognized Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) programme for grades IX and X. Along with academics, programmes such as student mentoring, career counseling, value education, staff development, student leadership, and parent participation are also offered.
Extra-Curricular:
Extra-curricular activities at RIS comprise music education, art education, elocution, debates, an adventure club, a soon-to-function robotics lab, cooking and soft skills programmes. Sports activities include soccer, equestrian horse-riding, swimming, cricket, football, tennis, basketball, hockey, volleyball, 9-Ball Pool and table tennis.
Admission
The school academic calendar commences from May and ends in April. However admission enrollments begin in November. The school admits students from grade II through grade XII. Admissions to grades VII, VIII and IX are confirmed upon successful performance in the entrance test for English, maths and science.
