Overview
Shri Ramdeobaba Kamala Nehru College of Engineering and Management (RCOEM), Nagpur, promoted in 1984 by Shri Ramdeobaba Sarvajanik Samiti, a trust which has been involved in community service for over four decades, is a co-educational autonomous private college, affiliated to the RTM Nagpur University, Maharashtra, it offers various graduate, postgraduate and doctoral level courses through its twelve departments – Basic Sciences, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics Design Technology, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Computer Applications. All the courses offered at the college are approved by the New Delhi-based All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
RCOEM has a dedicated Training and Placement Department which offers the students a number of opportunities through industrial training, guest lectures, alumni lectures and also helps students get placed in leading organisations. The institute boasts a 100 percent placement track record. Some of the top companies that recruit RCOEM students are Accenture Ltd, Cap Gemini, Mindtree Persistent Systems, Shapporji Pallonnji Ltd, ITC Infortech India Ltd., Cybage, Blue Star India Ltd., Raymond Ltd, MU Sigma Business Solutions Ltd, Infocepts, KEC International Ltd among many others.
Campus
RCOEM offers world class infrastructure combined with a picturesque environment on a sprawling 20 acre campus situated at a distance of 5 km from the city’s nerve centers. It houses the latest state-of-the-art infrastructure and well-equipped laboratories.
The Central Library housed in the campus covers an area of 878 sq.mts over two floors and features a collection of 15,882 titles, subscription to 135 national journals and 19,000 e-journals. Online public access system aids management of the library.
The RCOEM campus also hosts a well-equipped dispensary to cater to the medical needs of the students.
Accomodation
The college offers on-campus hostel facility for boys and girls, with the double and triple bed rooms a total of 552 students. The hostels are wired to make the internet accessible to the hostellers. The hostels are further equipped with mess, generator back-up, a TV room, a reading room, gymnasium and the sports facilities to groom the overall personality of the students.
Admission
Admission to Shri Ramdeo Baba KN Engineering College, Nagpur is based on entrance tests – the Common Entrance Test conducted by the state of Maharashtra (85 percent seats reserved for CET qualifiers) and the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIIEE, 15 percent seats are reserved for candidates qualifying AIEEE).
Students qualifying the higher secondary school examination of Maharashtra or its equivalent with 50 percent marks in Physics, Chemistry, English, Mathematics are eligible to take these tests (for SC/ST/OBC students it’s 45 percent).
Admission to MCA is through the Common Entrance Test conducted by Maharashtra and the All India MCA CET. Common Aptitude Test and Management Aptitude Test scores are considered for admission into its MBA programme.
Fees
For B.tech/M.Tec courses, the annual fee is Rs.1,00,400. For MCA, it is Rs. 68,000 and for MBA, Rs. 96,000.
Achievements
Shri Ramdeo Baba KN Engineering College, Nagpur is reckoned among the top engineering institutes of India. According to a survey published by the Outlook magazine in June 2012, it is ranked among the top ten engineering colleges in India.
