Overview
Ramniranjan Podar Senior Secondary School, also known as RN Podar School, was founded in 1998 by the Anandilal Ganesh Podar Society. It is a coeducational day school offering morning and afternoon shifts. The school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi and boasts student strength of 2,700.
A front runner in the reforms process, RN Podar School is also a case study at IIM Ahmedabad and a pilot for policy initiatives of CBSE.
Campus
RN Podar offers futuristic technological facilities with a well networked and wired campus. The classrooms are air conditioned, equipped with ICT Smart boards and computers that amplify the learning experience.
The school hosts state-of-the-art computer labs with multimedia and internet facilities, well equipped and well maintained science labs and well stocked libraries featuring a diverse range of books.
The sports complex houses a ground with facilities including first aid room, changing rooms for boys and girls, filtered water coolers, restrooms and coaches' room. The complex hosts a standard basketball court and an open ground used for football, cricket, volleyball, and athletics. Indoor sports include karate, chess, carom and table tennis which are conducted in the Ramniranjan Podar Hall, situated five minutes away from the main school campus.
Academics
RN Podar School follows the CBSE curriculum and offers classes from class I to class XII. According to the school, its 'Cafeteria Approach' allows students a diverse range of subjects to choose from. The flexible choice of subject combinations gives students the freedom to learn what they actually want to learn. This approach also offers innovative subjects such as disaster management, biotechnology and life skills.
The school also offers an integrated PACE program for Indian Institutes of Technology aspirants within the school premises. The school also provides a similar Integrated Program - Aakash for students interested in pursuing careers in the field of medicine and an Integrated Common Proficiency Test (CPT) Program for commerce enthusiasts.
