Overview
The Notre Dame Academy, at Patna is an all girls day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Founded on February 2, 1960, the school is managed by the Patna Notre Dame Sisters Society and is associated with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Patna.
At the pre primary level the school admits boys and girls, and from class I onwards the school is an all girls’ institution. The school is an avid supporter of Julie School, an education initiative for the underprivileged children who cannot afford to pay for education.
Campus
The school hosts a modern library stocked with a collection of 28,000 books, an auditorium, well equipped labs, spacious classrooms and playground.
Academics
Notre Dame Academy follows CBSE curriculum and the school's academic program is based on the educational heritage of the Sisters of Notre Dame. At the pre primary level the school follows Montessori method of education.
Extracurricular: Notre Dame Academy Patna promotes a host of extracurricular activities including debates, quizzes, music, dance, drama and elocution. The school also participates in SPIC MACAY (Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth) programs.
Admission
The Montessori House of Children admits girls above 3 ½ years old. Boys are given admission only if vacancies are available.
Admissions for other classes are conducted at the beginning of the school year depending upon vacancy and merit. There are limited vacancies in classes I to XI, students coming from recognized English-medium schools are considered, and preference is give to transferred students coming from out of town schools affiliated to CBSE.
Students need to write an entrance exam to prove their merit and eligibility for the respective class. A student will be eligible only if she has been studying in a recognized school and produces the transfer certificate from the school last attended. In an inter-state transfer, the transfer certificate needs to be counter-signed by the Education Department.
No admissions are done in classes X and XII.
Achievements
The school is an avid supporter of Julie School, an education initiative for the underprivileged children who cannot afford to pay for education.
Notre Dame Academy also runs a community service program in the name of 'Chetna Club' since 1999 with a group of teachers and students as its volunteers.
