Overview

NPS International School, Guwahati is a co-educational English medium day-boarding school founded by Jitendra Nath Das in 2005. GEMS NPS International School is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi and Central Board of Secondary Education International curriculum (CBSE-i), New Delhi. It is the first and only CBSE-i school in north east region of India.

 

The school offers holistic education from kindergarten to grade XII and hosts a campus which sprawls over 6.77 acres of landscaped greenery, facilitating world class infrastructure for students and staff. 

Campus

NPS International School campus sprawls over 6.77 acres, with a total built up area of 4.81 acres. There are 50 classrooms for CBSE and 29 for CBSE-i; all classrooms are spacious, well-ventilated and equipped with ICT teaching learning resources. The school houses eight separate laboratories for Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science and Social Science.

 

The well-furnished school library is stocked with 10103 books, and offers modern amenities for students. The library subscribes to 9 journals/periodicals every year. GEMS NPS e-library was introduced in 2011, for all scientific records, cultural resources, books, journals, maps, all of which have been made easily accessible to the students.

 

The school provides state-of-the-art infrastructure with indoor and outdoor age appropriate equipments and resources. Besides Wi-Fi connectivity, dining hall, canteen, mini shopping mall, swimming pool and water king are some of the other facilities available on the campus.  

Accomodation

NPS International School hostel offers facilities such as fully air conditioned rooms - separate for boys and girls, MI Room, dining room, mini shopping mall, canteen, swimming pool, and gym. The total no of students accommodated are 325.

 

 

 

 

Academics

NPS International is affiliated with CBSE Board (KG to class XII) and CBSE i for primary school. The school offers classes from kindergarten to grade XII. The foundation years in the primary school focuses on creativity, enquiry, and independent thinking, which makes learning not only fun but also challenging. In the middle school, students evolve academically, personally and socially with greater self reliance through a well-balanced and holistic curriculum. At the senior secondary level, students become more specialized in academics and focus on their eventual career choices.               

 

The average number of students on roll is 1204 with 72 teaching staff. The teacher-student ratio is maintained at 1:20. The school spends 25 days on teacher training program each  year.

 

Extracurricular:

Apart from academics, NPS students excel in extracurricular activities such as literature-creative writing, debating, poetry elocution, extempore, quiz, public speaking, IT competition, JAM, science exhibition. Students also participate in music, instrumental, dance, drama, face painting, art & craft, and Rangoli events. The school offers sports such as basketball, athletics, swimming, yoga, football, cricket, kabaddi, table tennis, chess, kho kho and badminton. 

Admission

Admission at NPS International School, Guwahati is open to all without any discrimination based on caste, creed, colour or religion.

 

The school academic session commences in April and ends in March. Admissions commence in September every year.

 

For admission, the prospectus needs to be collected first, followed by registration and admission test (only for grade VI onwards).

 

Qualified students are required to submit birth certificate, transfer certificate, progress report of last examination appeared and 4 passport size photographs along with duly filled up application form.

 

The admission depends on the availability of seats.

Achievements

23 students of the school qualified JEE – Mains 2013.

 

40 percent students of the school qualified NEET UG 2013.

 

State rank No.1 in ST category in NEET UG 2013 is held by a student of GEMS NPS.

 

In 2012, 72 percent selection in IIT – JEE, CBSE–AIPMT, AIEEE & Assam CEE (2 student selected in IIT JEE, 4 in CBSE AIPMT), and excellent performance in NCO, NSO, IMO & IEO.

 

Participated in CBSE National Science Exhibition 2012 – 13.

 

In 2011, Sumit Dey Tarafdar was the only student from entire north east who secured international Rank 81 in level 2 NCO. He was awarded a scholarship of Rs 50,000 for participating in Computing Camp in Singapore organized by Science Olympiad Foundation.

CULTURAL: World Peace Congress 2013 (Mumbai):

Rupmalin Kropi – 1st prize in singing competition and 2nd prize in Run for Peace marathon.

Chandan Saha – 2nd prize in ‘Peace-a-doodle’ poster painting completion.

Srija Bhattacharya – 3rd prize in presentation ‘My School’s planned contribution to world peace.

 

CSR (Community Service):

Ms Lunasmita Barman, grade IX student was awarded Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Award for Excellence – 2011 in Dubai for good academic performance and social work. She was the only student from India selected among 28 girls from schools across the Middle East and India.

 

OTHERS:

In October 2011 the students of NPS International School got the golden opportunity to step into NASA and explore John F. Kennedy Space Centre. 37 students and 4 teachers went for three days astronaut training experience (ATX) in NASA.

 

9 students and one teacher from NPS International School visited Philipp-Matthaus-Hahn-Gymnasium-Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Stuttgart, Germany from 4 June 2013 to 16 June 2013 for an educational cum cultural exchange programme.
