Overview
Founded in 1957, Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal is a constituent institute of the Manipal University. MIT is one of the first self financing engineering colleges in the country and is today rated among the top 5 private engineering colleges in India. It became a constituent institute of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (Manipal University) in 2000. MIT is known for its rich, vibrant campus life marked by technical, cultural and sports events running throughout the year.
The institute boasts a well-organized placement team headed by the associate director (Industrial Liaison, Placements & Practice School), comprising of faculty and student coordinators from each department. On an average, 60 companies visit MIT Manipal for campus recruitments every year.
Campus
MIT, Manipal hosts centrally air-conditioned classrooms equipped with the latest technology, well furnished three separate conference halls for conduct of conferences, seminars and conventions, a spacious auditorium/function hall, an exhibition hall, dining hall and kitchen, and a spacious parking area.
The MIT innovation centre was established to commemorate the golden jubilee of MIT and aims at nurturing innovation.
The campus hosts a central computing facility to cater to the computing needs of the faculty and students.
The institute hosts well resourced central and departmental libraries.
Accomodation
The MIT campus houses comfortable hostels for boys and girls, under the management of the Hostel Management Committee. It is mandatory for all first year students to reside in the hostels.
