Overview
The Learning Tree Playschool was established in January, 1995. Situated on a green campus in the heart of Lutyen's Delhi, the school welcomes its students to the wonders of nature as it unfolds through the seasons.
Learning Tree differentiates itself from most other preschools mainly due to the uniqueness of its classrooms which are sans doors and walls and covered with eco-friendly bamboo roofs. Every class opens out to a lawn filled with flowering trees and plants. Children learn to be one with nature as they share their environment with rabbits, hamsters and birds.
The school considers its faculty as its greatest asset. All teachers boast over 7 years of experience in India and abroad in early childhood education.
Campus
Each class has 15 children with a teacher and a helper. The school has a large garden around which the classes are built. The campus has a large sandpit with a tree house, swings and slides.
Academics
The school’s curriculum is designed to provide a strong educational foundation through hands-on learning activities. School hours are between 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
The school trains children in the following:
- Art: clay modeling, finger painting, play dough, cutting/pasting, crayons and much more.
- Music: singing, movement to music, playing instruments.
- Creative expression: dramatic play, puppets, dressing up.
- Science & math: shapes, colours, patterns, sorting, classifying by properties, counting, number understanding, animals, growing plants, weather, and cooking.
- Language & pre-reading skills: stories, books, finger plays and poems, rhyming, “same and different”, “what’s missing?” and introduction to the alphabet.
- Environmental awareness: conservation of natural resources, garbage and pollution, recycling
- Physical coordination: swings, balance beam, obstacle course, ball games, and Taekwondo.
The school also organises picnics and field trips.
Admission
Age: Child should have completed 2 years by 31st March for admission
Process: The Admissions Register is opened in January every year. Child’s name should be registered one year prior to seeking admission.
Admissions are done on a first-come-first served basis.
