Overview
The Hiranandani Foundation School (HFS), Powai, was promoted in 1990 by the Hiranandani Foundation, a registered charitable trust. A co-educational, English medium school, HFS Powai is affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi and offers classes from nursery to class X.
Initially set up for residents of the Hiranandani Gardens, HFS Powai aims to “build overall personalities of its students, and enrich them with confidence and caliber that can take them places”. HFS does not believe in posing constraints of any kind to its students’ ideas, thereby helping them evolve into independent and creative individuals.
Campus
Set against the backdrop of the Powai Lake, HFS maintains an impressive infrastructure with airy classrooms and spacious large playgrounds. The school hosts two buildings; the old school building comprises 5 storeys with two wings and a playground, the new school building also has 5 storeys. Much bigger than the old building, the new building houses the secondary section, i.e. from classes V to XII.
Both the buildings host essential facilities such as three science laboratories for each science stream, two well networked computer labs, ample space for sports and outdoor activities, a basketball and volleyball court, rooms for indoor games, auditorium, gymnasium, audio-visual room and well stocked library.
Academics
HFS is affiliated with CISCE and offers classes from nursery to class XII. Hindi is introduced from class I and Marathi, the regional language of Maharashtra, is mandatory from class V to class VII.
Extracurricular: Apart from the academic program, various co-curricular activities such as art and craft, music, dance etc. are also part of the school’s agenda. Value-based education and philanthropic workshops are conducted regularly, apart from swimming and yoga classes.
