Overview

Greenwood High International School is a co-educational day school promoted in 2004 by a group of eminent industry and business leaders, committed to the cause of providing quality education in India. Sited on a 30 acre campus off Sarjapur Road, Bangalore, the school boasts world class infrastructure and state-of-the-art facilities for children to pursue sports and other extracurricular activities.

The school is affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi, and offers its academic programme from grade I through grade X. The school is also affiliated with the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), UK, and International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), Geneva, offering the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) programme of the former and the IB diploma programme (DP) of the latter. The school aims to “To educate young people in ways that prepare them to be active, free thinking, and socially responsible citizens in a democratic society.”

Campus

Sited on a 30 acre campus, the school is well-designed with a “perfect blend of aesthetics, style and comfort”. The school library offers around 14,000 books for all age groups. The library is equipped with facilities for teachers and students to research for resources online and for parents to keep track of books borrowed by their children from the library. The library also includes a separate research room for teachers with computer-internet facility.

The school provides state-of-the-art computer, math and science (physics, chemistry and biology) laboratories for its students with well trained lab assistants to assist them. The school offers 24x7 doctors on call service, quality first aid and pre-medical care equipments. The school campus includes facilities for sports and games such as swimming, football, throw ball, basketball, tennis, and volleyball.

Greenwood High boasts of an amphitheatre equipped with excellent acoustics and a seating capacity of 500 students and Wi-Fi connectivity throughout the campus. The meals in the school canteen are planned by nutritionists and prepared by experienced chefs. The cafeteria is located in a separate building with two floors and can accommodate 900 children at a time.

Transport facility includes 75 buses that ply across most parts of Bangalore. For children’s safety, buses are equipped with GPS and Route Alert systems, besides speed governance mechanism. 

Accomodation

There are two hostel blocks – one each for boys and girls, accommodating 200 students in total. The rooms are spacious and well planned, with sufficient light and ventilation. The students are provided with all modern amenities and the highest level of security. 

Academics

Greenwood High is affiliated with CISCE, New Delhi and prepares students for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) exam held at the end of grade X.  It also offers the CIE’s IGCSE curriculum for grades IX and X. Students of grade XI and XII are offered the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma programme, which is a two year programme recognized by all international universities. The school also offers special coaching for students who wish to write competitive exams such as SAT and AIEEE.

The school boasts well qualified and well trained faculty, whose skills and knowledge are constantly upgraded by the bi-monthly teacher training programmes organised by the school.

Co-curricular:

The school encourages its students to participate in sports and games such as swimming, yoga, basketball, volleyball, throw ball, table tennis, football, Taekwondo, besides Indian / Western music, dance, art and craft, etc.

The school also organizes field trips and excursions for pupils during the academic year. 

Admission

The application forms can be requested from the school’s office or by applying online. A charge of Rs. 500/- needs to be paid against the application form. The application form should be duly filled in and all the relevant documents need to be attached with the form. For admission to grade I and above, candidates need to write an entrance test, following which interviews are scheduled with parents. The enrollment fee needs be paid as per the fee schedule.

Fees

The tuition fee varies depending on grades, as given below:

ICSE = Approx. 1.25 to 1.80 lakh (per annum)

IGCSE = Approx. 3 to 3.50 lakh (per annum)

IB = Approx. 5.00 to 6.00 lakh (per annum)

Achievements

The students of Greenwood High actively participate in various sports, cultural and literary events at the local and national level, winning several laurels for the school. Greenwood High was awarded the Excellence Award 2012 for Research & Innovation by the Knowledge Resource Development & Welfare Group, IIT Delhi, for Innovation and Technology in School Education. 

The football team of Greenwood High beat Givernment Sports School 2-0 in the finals of the Mahindra Football Inter-School championship held at Bangalore Football Stadium on November 9. Read more...
