Overview
GD Somani Memorial School was established in 1975 by the well known industrialists and philanthropists of the Somani Group – the late B. D. Somani and G. D. Somani. The school is situated in the posh locality of Cuffe Parade.
The school started with 250 students and today it has 3000 students on its rolls. The school was initially affiliated to the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education but presently it follows the curriculum laid down by the Council of the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), New Delhi, in consultation with eminent and scholars and trustees of other ICSE schools.
Campus
The school library is well stocked and available for all classes and on all days. An audio-visual room is provided for learning through charts, slides, and films. The modernized and well-equipped laboratories are available to class V and above. The experiments are performed under the supervision of teachers and lab assistants.
The computer labs are well air-conditioned and furnished with new equipments. The school also provides regular check up for students by a team of qualified doctors.

GD Somani Memorial School is day school, hence hostel facility is not provided.
Academics
GD Somani Memorial School is affiliated to Council of the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), New Delhi and students are prepared for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) examinations at the end of class X. In 2006, of the 119 students who formed the first batch of students appearing for the ICSE examinations, 17 secured 90 percent and above, 84 secured distinction and 35 secured first class.
The school not only caters to academic curriculum but also motivates students to be part of extracurricular activities.
Admission
Students seeking admission to GD Somani Memorial School need to appear for an entrance test, based on which they are selected for admission and the principal’s decision is final. The student should present leaving certificate if he/she belongs to a recognized school. The fee paid once is not refundable or transferable.
Fee structure:
The tuition fee can be paid in two installments. The first part of the fee can be paid during the admission and the second during mid-academic year. For primary classes the annual fee is Rs. 26, 690 and for secondary classes it is Rs. 27, 225.
