Overview
Delhi Public School, Varanasi was flagged off in the year 2002 by the Delhi Public School (DPS) Society and commenced its academic sessions from 2003. The school is affiliated with the New Delhi based Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and offers classes from nursery to class XII.
In accordance with the philosophy of the DPS Society, the school seeks to guide, shape and build character in an environment conducive to learning. The DPS Schools see parents’ role as integral and fosters a close partnership between the child, teachers and parents.
Campus
Located on a 6 acre campus on the Chandaulli- Mohansarai By-pass road, DPS Varanasi boasts world-class learning environment with spacious and well ventilated classrooms, and dedicated laboratories for physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and computers. The school library is well stocked with over 20,000 books including reference titles as well as various periodicals, newspapers and CDS. The school also boasts an indoor sports complex with facilities for games such as chess, badminton, table tennis and carom. A swimming pool is also housed within the campus and students are encouraged to learn swimming.
DPS Varanasi is a member of VSAT linked Edu-Link initiative of the DPS Society, through which students can attend online classes and learn from teachers belonging to the All India DPS Fraternity
Accomodation
Being a day school, DPS Varanasi does not offer accommodation facility.
Academics
DPS Varanasi follows the CBSE curriculum; the learning process begins in the classroom and reaches out into the real world with access to resources and technology. The school offers integrated resources, which makes it easy to learn skills, communication is encouraged and opinions and ideas are shared.
Parents form an integral part of the education process and orientation programs are conducted with an aim to build strong relationship between the parents and teachers. Extracurricular:
Extracurricular activities are considered as an integral aspect of holistic learning and are encouraged. Debates and extempore, dance, drama, singing painting as well as sports like swimming, chess, badminton, table tennis and carom are played and encouraged.
Admission
Admissions to Nursery and Preparatory classes are done on the basis of observation cum interaction of the child in the presence of both the parents. A formal written test in languages and maths is conducted for children seeking admission to class I and above. An addition assessment of science is done for students of classes VI-IX.
