Overview
Delhi Public School (DPS), Vadodara, is a co-educational kindergarten-class X day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education. It’s a franchisee school of the Delhi Public School Society (estb. 1949) which runs which runs 140 Delhi Public Schools countrywide.
Admissions into DPS Vadodara are open from pre-nursery to class IX. The school offers state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities to ensure the holistic development of children. According to a school spokesperson the aim of the school is “to help children acquire the values and skills essential for their growth into complete human beings. The school seeks to ensure that the children are able to develop their fullest potentials according to their unique natural ability”.
The school campus also hosts a Shiksha Kendra -- a special school for under-privileged children where education is delivered free of charge. Currently 62 children are enrolled in the Shiksha Kendra.
Campus
The 6.5-acre school campus houses more than 72 spacious classrooms, an administration block, a learning resource centre, two swimming pools, a multipurpose stadium, a cricket/football ground, badminton and volleyball courts, a children’s park, an amphitheater and facilities for indoor games.
The campus also hosts a science and puppet museum, art and craft room, a dance and music room, a well-stocked library (14,000 volumes), activity rooms, and computer, sciences, math and demo laboratories. The school also has a cafeteria, a water treatment plant to ensure safe drinking water and an infirmary for medical emergencies.
Academics
DPS is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education. The academic year is from June to April. Annual assessments are in March for classes I to IX. The three sections include – the pre-primary comprising pre-nursery, nursery and prep classes, the junior section classes I to V andc VI to IX comprise the secondary section.
Extracurricular: Music, dance, art, craft, theater are taught as a part of the syllabus. Basketball, swimming, football, hockey, cricket and other sports are encouraged.
