Delhi Public School (DPS), Azad Nagar, Kanpur is a coeducational day cum boarding school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. Founded by Alok Misra in 2004, the school operates under the aegis of the Delhi Public School (DPS) Society. The school boasts about 3000 students from Kindergarten through class XII. Educomp’s Smart Class is used to provide digital learning experience.

Campus

The school campus sprawls over 20 acres hosting an administrative block and three academic blocks. DPS, Azad Nagar houses a well-stocked library, conference block and well-equipped separate laboratories for computer, physics, chemistry, biology and language. There is a music room, dance room, art room and spacious canteens in all academic blocks.

Sports infrastructure includes facilities for indoor games such as table tennis, shooting, Taekwondo, chess, carrom and badminton. There are also facilities for outdoor games such as cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, swimming, kho-kho, hockey and lawn tennis. The school also provides transportation facility.

Accomodation

The DPS Azad Nagar hostel provides the following amenities:

1. Air-conditioned rooms on 2-3 sharing basis.

2. Separate boys and girls hostels.

3. Hygienic mess and dining area providing sumptuous, quality, home-style, nutritious food.

4. Laundry facility and purified drinking water.

5. Well-equipped infirmary with trained medical staff and a visiting doctor along with an emergency tie-up with a nearby hospital.

6. Support staff including ayahs, sweepers, laundry, and maintenance staff under the supervision of the warden and administrator.

7. Recreation facilities like evening games are encouraged under the guidance of the instructors. Special outings are also organized.

Academics

Affiliated with CBSE, DPS Azad Nagar offers schooling from Kindergarten through class XII. At the senior secondary level, the school offers a choice of three streams – science, commerce and humanities.

Motivated teachers encourage students to excel academically and provide opportunities for hands-on learning. The school uses Educomp’s Smart Class to offer digital learning experience.

The teaching staff is well-trained and dedicated. The school organises various subject workshops from time to time for teachers.

Extracurricular

Students are offered opportunity to participate in various inter-school, inter-DPS, district, state and national level sports, literary and cultural events.

Students are coached in table tennis, shooting, Taekwondo, chess, carrom, badminton, cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, swimming, kho-kho, hockey and lawn tennis. DPS also provides transportation facility.

Admission

Age eligibility: The age of the prospective student as on September 30 of the academic year should be -

- Playgroup : 3 years

- Nursery : 4 years

- Prep. : 5 years

- Class I : 6 years

- Class II onwards : On the basis of the previous class

Registration:

Parents can obtain the registration form from the school office. Registration forms need to be filled in and submitted to the school office before the end of the registration date specified each year. Registration fee is non-refundable and is valid only for the specified academic year. Registration does not assure admission.

Admission Test:

A written or oral admission test is conducted for registered children that will be based on English, Hindi, Mathematics and/or any other subject which may be considered necessary.

The selection process is based on the child's performance in the test and/or interview, and the availability of seats in the concerned class.

Admission for class XI is based on the marks obtained in class IX and class X Board Examination. A list of selected candidates for admission to class XI is displayed on the notice board.
