Overview
Campion School located in Fort Mumbai, was established with a vision of providing quality education to students. The school is an English medium boys’ school affiliated to Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE). The school was founded in the year 1943 by the members of the Society of Jesus, a Roman Catholic Religious Order commonly called the Jesuits.
The school has dedicated itself not just to prepare just a ‘socio-economic elite' but rather to educate leaders in service.
The transformation that the school desires, rests on four pillars namely: social- to form men of substance, intellectual- to develop the imaginative, the affective and the creative, spiritual- to help nurture values and positive attitudes and personal- to assist in the growth of a healthy self-image.
To ensure the complete development of the children, Campion School encourages the students to take part in various co-curricular activities held in school such as music, dance, arts and sports. The campus of Campion School is well equipped with the modern infrastructural facilities such as spacious ventilated class rooms with the latest teaching aids, rich library, state-of-the-art computer labs, science labs and play ground.
Campus
Located at the premises at Wellesley House in fort area of Mumbai, the school has modern infrastructural facilities, with well ventilated and spacious class rooms. The library is well stocked with books, covering a wide range of subjects and interests, both for reference and for borrowing for home reading. A judicious selection of newspapers and magazines, both Indian and foreign, in English as well as in Hindi, is available for browsing and as an aid to general knowledge and current information requirement. The audio-visual room is equipped with a LCD projector, and a computer connected to the central server, is used by the primary section for screening educational software and presentations.
The networked model is the natural evolution of the computer based training effort of the school under which, instead of having the students move from their classrooms to the audi-visual facility or the computer laboratory, the content is made available for the use of the students and teachers in the classroom itself.
The art room with an abundance of natural light and specially designed art horses provides the students the right ambience to discover the Michelangelo in them.
The well equipped science labs can boast of fire proof and acid proof paint.
The school follows the house system which helps to foster in the students a sense of collective responsibility and solidarity and at the same time to enkindle and develop the social qualities latent in every child.
Academics
The school year, which begins in April and ends in March, comprises of three terms: April to August, September to December, January to April. The course of school studies extends from the preparatory class to class X. It is designed to prepare students for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education Examination, conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), New Delhi.
Hindi is taught from Class I. Marathi, the regional language of the state is compulsory from class I to class VIII. Art, craft, music, physical training, outdoor games, yoga and other activities are compulsory for all.
Extracurricular: The school gives equal importance to the extracurricular activities and has playgrounds where the children are encouraged to play foot ball, basketball, etc. There are various clubs also where the students participate actively namely the 43rd East Bombay Scout Troop, the Road Safety Patrol, the Junior Red Cross, Nature Club of India, etc. Extra curricular activities like the choral recitation, art contents, western music, and debates keep the students engaged and helps develop their personality.
Admission
Admission process for preparatory class begins in the first week of January. Parents are informed through email the exact date for the admission process. Children above the age of 5 years can apply for admission in the preparatory class.
The registration for Classes I- IX are done online from the 10th December to 10th January and the admission process starts after 25 March, depending on the vacancies available.
