Overview
The Calcutta Boys’ School, sited at S.N. Banerjee Road in the heart of Kolkata was founded in 1877 by James Mills Thoburn, Bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church. It is a Christian, minority Anglo-Indian, English medium day school for boys managed by the Calcutta Christian Schools Society. It is affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi.
The school is recognized by the Government of West Bengal through the Deputy Director of School Education, Anglo-Indian Schools.
Campus
The school is located in the heart of the Kolkata city and offers facilities such as spacious classrooms, conference room, chapel, laboratories, computer lab, library, music room and play area, among others.
Academics
Calcutta Boys’ School provides education to boys from nursery to class XII. It is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), New Delhi, and prepares students for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) examination and Indian School Certificate (ISC) examination at the end of class X and class XII respectively. Students can avail science and commerce streams in class XI. Classes nursery to VIII follow the curriculum prescribed by the Inter-state Board of Anglo Indian Education, New Delhi.
Extracurricular: Students are encouraged to take an active interest in extracurricular activities such as quiz, debate, plays, Eastern and Western music. Students are also encouraged to participate in international Olympiads. The school has an Interact club which runs social projects. Sports activities include football, cricket, karate etc.
Admission
Admission process for nursery begins in the month of September. Candidates should be between 4 to 5 years of age during the time of admission. Admissions for kindergarten to class IX commence in April, subject to vacancies. Admission for these classes takes place on the basis of performance in the entrance test and interview.
Fees: Admission fee for all new admissions is Rs. 12,000. Monthly school fee is Rs. 1800.
