Overview
Bal Bharati Public School (BBPS), Pitampura is a coeducational day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. The school was promoted in 1984 by the Child Education Society to cater to the needs of the residents of North Delhi. The school is one amongst the 14 schools managed by the Child Education Society.
Having started with student strength of 150 and 6 staff members, Bal Bharati Public School (BBPS), Pitampura has come a long way today with an enrolment of 4975, 203 teaching and 45 non- teaching members.
The mission of BBPS, Pitampura is “Holistic development of its students and preparing them for global citizenship that is committed to social change.” The school also aims to “inculcate life skills in the children to help them cope with changes and challenges and instill sensitivity and commitment to the environment and finally train children to comprehend and revere human values.”
Campus
The state-of-the-art BBPS Pitampura campus is sited on Parwana Road, Pitampura and hosts three fully computerized libraries, seperate laboratories for physics, chemistry, biology, general science and primary science lab, three separate computer labs for the primary, middle and high school with more than 100 computers interlinked with three servers, and a math lab to help students explore mathematical concepts and verify mathematical facts and theorems through a variety of activities using different materials.
The sports infrastructure includes large playgrounds with horse riding facilities, cricket fields, football, basketball and volleyball courts, two swimming pools, a golf course and a gymnasium.
The school boasts a state-of-the-art auditorium equipped with digital light and sound equipments, acoustics, air cooling and fire alarm.
The infirmary at BBPS, Pitampura is well equipped 9 beds, a computer for medical records of students, a stretcher, inhaler, nebulizer, oxygen cylinder, suction machine and wheelchair. The infirmary is attended by a qualified doctor, a nurse and an attendant.
Academics
At the pre primary level Bal Bharati Public School, Pitampura follows the Montessori methodology to stimulate and develop all the five senses of a child i.e. touch, hearing, sight, taste and smell. The school follows the Montessori principle of three R's: reading, writing, and arithmetic. Along with academics, importance is also given to co-curricular activities for all round development of the child.
In 2007, the Child Education Society established a training centre at Bal Bharati Public School, Pitampura to improve the quality of teaching and inculcate professionalism, competency and empowerment amongst its teachers and staff members.
The school also set up a knowledge center in 2002 in collaboration with Educomp Solutions Ltd to develop customized teaching capsules for science, social sciences and mathematics and subsequently for other subjects.
BBPS, Pitampura gives due attention to sports and other extracurricular activities and provides regular coaching to its students. Besides, it also encourages students to participate in various inter-house and inter-school matches and Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW).
Students are taught various activities such as instrumental music, kathak dance, bharatnatyam dance, table, best out of waste, fabric painting, clay modeling, glass painting, madhubani painting, meal planning etc.
The school promotes various clubs such as astronomy club, pinnacle club, gardening club, electronics club, paper recycling, heritage club, Aryabhatta club and energy club.
The school lays special emphasis on community service and conducts visits to orphanages, old age homes etc. Art of Living courses are also conducted in the school to assist the students in becoming better human beings and exemplary citizens of the country.
Admission
The admission process for preschool starts in January with a notification for registration in the Hindustan Times. Application forms can be downloaded from the school website. The application form must be submitted along with the following:
Recent passport size color photograph of the child and of the parents, duly pasted on specified place marked on the admission form
Attested photocopy of municipal birth certificate
Attested photocopy of ration card/election ID card/passport (for residential proof)
Proof of old student of BBPS - photocopy of class XII school leaving certificate from BBPS, Pitampura.
Proof of old parent of BBPS - photocopy of the latest fee slip of the elder sibling in BBPS Pitampura.
Some seats are reserved for EWS (economically weaker section) as per government rules.
Admission from Montessori II to class X is subject to availability of seats.
Admission to class XI: External admissions for class XI take place after class X exam results on the basis of merit and availability of seats.
Achievements
BBPS, Pitampura engages in exchange programs with schools in various countries such as the USA, UK, Australia, France, Singapore and Mexico. BBPS has also participated in an exchange program with the University of Pennsylvania.
The school was ranked No.11 among the most admired schools in Delhi by the Education World India School Rankings 2012 survey.
