Overview
BGS International Residential School (BGSIRS), Bangalore was promoted in 1997 by Adi Chunchunagiri Shikshana Trust, under the leadership of Padmabhushana Dr. Balagangadharanatha Swamiji. The school was formally inaugurated by former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on January 19, 2000. It is a co-educational residential school with international and NRI students on its rolls. The vibrant school campus sprawls over 100 acres on the Bangalore-Mysore highway, 40 minutes drive from the city.
BGSIRS is an English medium school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (C.B.S.E), New Delhi, and the Karnataka state board to offer the national and state level curriculum respectively. It is also affiliated with the Cambridge International Examinations, UK to offer the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) programme.
Campus
The school campus sprawls over 100 acres amidst sylvan surroundings and hosts large and bright rooms classrooms and activity rooms, a seminar hall, computer lab with an audio visual room, fully equipped laboratories for biology, physics, chemistry and mathematics, a digital resources library with over 10,000 books and internet enabled computers, kindergarten equipment with scientific toys and state-of-the-art multi-media learning center.
The campus offers facilities for learning Indian and Western musical instruments, an auditorium with state of art lighting and acoustics, well equipped gymnasium, spacious and well equipped rooms for indoor sports, playgrounds for outdoor sports, a separate playground for the kindergarten children, facilities for yoga, meditation, swimming, skating and riding. The school also boasts a fleet of 9 school buses and 3 cars.
Accomodation
Boarders are provided spacious and comfortable dormitories with round the clock security. Separate buildings house the boy’s and the girl’s dormitories. 3 dining halls comfortably accommodate the students and staff during meals.
The kitchen is modern, well equipped and automated.
Academics
BGSIRS offers education to boys and girls from pre kindergarten to higher secondary level; it is affiliated with CBSE and Karnataka state board to offer the national and state level curriculum and with CIE to offer the international (IGCSE) curriculum. The school follows continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE) to provide holistic profile of the learner through regular assessment of both scholastic and co-scholastic aspects of development.
Extracurricular:
Extracurricular activities at BGSIRS comprise a wide range of sporting activities such as golf, adventure sport, football, hockey, cricket, basketball and lawn tennis, among others. Students are also encouraged to engage themselves in literary and cultural clubs, yoga, music, dance and theatre, besides community service.
