Overview
Ashok Hall Girls’ Residential School, Ranikhet, is an all girls’ residential school founded by B. K. Birla and Dr. Sarala Birla in 1993. The campus is spread across 25 acres amidst the magnificent Kumaon Hills in the Almora district of Uttarakhand, India. The school offers residential facility to students from class IV to class XII. The school is ISO-9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 certified and is currently pursuing TQM (Total Quality Management) certification.
The school is affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi and is a member of the prestigious Indian Public Schools’ Conference.
Campus
The 25 acre school campus is nestled in the lap of the Himalayas, close to Ranikhet in Uttarakhand. The classrooms are well-furnished, spacious and well-ventilated.
The school library features a good collection of books which students can use extensively. The school hosts three science labs – one each for physics, chemistry and biology. The school offers playgrounds for sports and games such as roller skating, basketball, hockey, cricket, tennis, golf, volleyball and horse riding.
The schools also houses an amphitheatre where cultural programmes and events are conducted.
Accomodation
The school provides state-of-the-art boarding facilities for girls from class IV to class XII. The hostel rooms are well-furnished and well ventilated.
Academics
The school follows the CISCE curriculum and offers schooling from class IV to class XII. Monthly tests, half-yearly exams and annual exams are considered, while evaluating the progress of students. Theme-based assemblies, projects and assignments help students delve into different topics and subjects.
Extracurriculars
The school encourages its students to participate in literary and cultural activities, fine arts, performing arts, quiz, debate, elocution and more. Sports activities include roller-skating, basketball, hockey, cricket, tennis, golf, volleyball and horse riding. Social service activities are also undertaken.
Weekend clubs cater to a variety of interests including English songs, instrumental music, Western choreography, applied art, ecology, dance, fashion designing, photography, craft, theatre, aerobics, Hindi dramatics, English dramatics, vocal music, nrityangan (classical, semi classical, folk, western) German language, maths, science, public speaking, personality development, and art and craft.
Admission
Registration forms are available along with the prospectus. Registration usually commences in December. Applicants are required to write an admission test, the date of which is intimated at the time of registration. Selected candidates must provide transfer certificates from the school last attended at the time of admission.
Admission starts from class IV and admission to higher classes is subject to vacancies. Admission to class XI is provisional till the declaration of the class X Board results.

Ashok Hall Girls’ Residential School, Ranikhet has been ranked among the Top 10 girls’ residential schools in India by the Education World C-fore survey 2013.
