Overview
Sited in Anna Nagar, Chennai, Arise ‘n’ Shine is part of the Arise ‘n’ Shine International group of preschools headquartered in South East Michigan. Established in 2003, the preschool started by providing an integrated curriculum of Indian and Western systems of education for American and Asian children in North America. In 2009, Arise ‘n’ Shine launched its first centre in south India.
The preschool was set up to provide education based on a more practical methodology of teaching through first hand experiences which helps students set their own parameters of learning with more independence.
Campus
The school campus hosts bright, air conditioned classrooms with several attractive and child-centric materials for the children to work with. The preschool also houses a well stocked library, a play room, home living area, an art room, dance room, computer room and an outdoor play area.
Academics
The curriculum of Arise n Shine is based on Explore n Shine method that involves:
(a) Language development through rhymes that help in building effective communication.
(b) Art, dance and music that helps children experience a sense of freedom of body movement and help grasp different types of sounds in and around them.
(c) Phonics emphasizes on improving a child’s fluency by way of independent reading, sound pattern vowels and comprehension.
(d) Subjects based on Maths, Block and Science that helps a child acquire knowledge about measurements, numbers and improve their counting capabilities. The school also provides firsthand opportunity for a child to understand the knowhow of different discoveries related to science.
(e) Socialization through Arts which helps build a child’s confidence through group activities which offer scope for children to put across their ideas and relate their textual knowledge with the real world.
The school also offers subjects such as history, geography and cursive handwriting and provides an outdoor play area where children are taught eye-hand coordination and sense of directions. The school also arranges for summer camps where they are taught taekwondo, yoga, public speaking, yoga and painting. The students are also offered opportunity to participate in field trips organized by the school.
School hours are from 9.30 am to 11.30 am or 12.30 pm to 3.00 pm for nursery and 9.00am to 12.30 pm for lower and upper kindergarten.
Admission
Registration forms need to be filled in and submitted at the school office before the end of the registration period.
The age criterion for admission is above 2 years for playschool, 3 plus for nursery, 3.5 to 4.5 for lower kindergarten and 4.5 years for upper kindergarten.

Achievements
On November 2012, Arise ‘n’ Shine was awarded the “Indian Leadership Award for Education Excellence” on a national level by the All India Achievers Foundation - an organization which works towards the economic and social development of the country.
Arise ‘n’ Shine, Annanagar has been ranked among the top 20 preschools in Chennai by the EducationWorld India Preschool Rankings 2013.
