Overview
Ambe Vidyalaya, Vadodara is a coeducational day cum residential school affiliated with the Gujarat State Secondary Education Board. Started in 1991, the school is a part of the Ambe Group of Schools founded by Suryakant Shah. The school also has a Gujarati medium section. It boasts 8553 students from kindergarten through class X.
Campus
The 1.14 acre school campus hosts vibrant and colourful class rooms, well stocked library, well equipped labs for science and computer, air conditioned auditorium, multipurpose hall and smart classrooms. The school also has a yoga room, music room, indoor games facility, swimming pool, skating rink and basketball court.
The kindergarten section also housed colourful classrooms with child friendly furniture, puppet theatre and activity area, splash pool, ball room, jungle gym and play pen.
Accomodation
The school offers accommodation facility for 300 students. Rooms are shared by 3, 4 and 5 children staying together and all rooms have attached bathrooms with hot water facility. Each child is provided a bed, mattress, pillow, cupboard, study table, chair and a common dressing table.
The hostel canteen serves four meals a day planned by a dietician. Food varieties include cuisines like Punjabi, South Indian, Chinese and fast food.
Academics
At the kindergarten level, playway method of teaching is followed and children are taught concepts of environmental studies, community helpers, flowers, fruits, vegetables, animals, seasons, a birthday party etc. through experiential teaching.
At the primary level, the teaching methodology is child centred and emphasis is laid on environmental and social awareness; reading, writing and arithmetic (3R’s) skills are developed. Projects and experience oriented learning is given thrust and pupils are encouraged to learn at their own pace.
At the secondary level, oral and written concepts are given greater emphasis along with computing skills. Students are also encouraged to participate in various projects, workshops, etc. and trained to integrate classroom learning with real life applications. Tests and examinations are held often to prepare students for board exams.
Admission
The admission forms for kindergarten are issued in December and January every year. Application forms for UKG to class VIII are issued in the month of March and April.
Forms for secondary section (classes IX and X) are available only after the annual results are declared.
Admission procedure to higher secondary section (classes XI and XII) commerce and science stream is conducted only after the declaration of class X board results.
