Overview

Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute (AFGJI), Delhi is a coeducational day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. Founded in 1985, the school was initially set up with an aim to offer quality education to differently abled children. Later, it was upgraded to an integrated institution which provided the differently abled children an opportunity to learn alongside other children. The school has been imparting integrated education since 1986.

 

The school comprises a primary wing (KG to class V), senior wing (class VI to XII) and special wing for the special children. Currently the school boasts an integrated group of about 2200 students and 120 differently abled students.

 

 

 

The primary aim of the school is to cater to the educational needs of children of Air Force Personnel and priority for admission is given to Air Force children. However, reasonable number of seats are available for admission of Non Air Force (NAF) category children as well. The school is a member of the National Progressive School Conference (NPSC). It is also a member of the Indian Public Schools Conference (IPSC).

Campus

The school boasts a lush green 15 acre campus comprised of different blocks for the senior and junior wings. The first floor, known as the special wing, is committed to the development of the special children, to make them as independent as possible. The school houses an auditorium for multi-purpose activities, labs equipped with the latest scientific instruments, and a computerized library featuring a collection of more than 16,000 books on all subjects.

 

 

For co-curricular activities there are various centers - art block, music block and aero-modeling block that facilitate the interested students to recognize their potential in flying.  

 

The sports infrastructure includes basketball court, hockey field, football and facilities for various indoor games such as table tennis, chess, and carom among others.

 

The school also hosts a bank, canteen and medical infirmary.

Academics

The school follows the CBSE syllabus and its curriculum is developed according to the child's mental ability. At the time of admission, in consultation with the trained physician/psychologist, counselor, special educators and social workers, special children are placed in mildly, moderately and severely retarded categories.

 

Individual attention is given to special children and their progress is monitored through Individualized Education Plan. The academic program includes reading/writing simple arithmetic of primary level, environmental awareness and home management program.

 

The Integrated Program comprises drawing, music, dance, creative art and craft, physical training, morning assemblies, special-assemblies on special days like Christmas, Diwali, school annual day, annual sports day and visits of eminent persons.

 

Vocational training is provided to the special students in the areas of home management, paper products, printing, photocopying, weaving, candle making and computers.

Admission

The entry level is from UKG for which registration takes place in the month of January. The minimum age for admission to UKG is 4 + as on 31st March of the year of admission.

 

Admissions into classes I to X, (NAF category) are subject to availability of seats and registration takes place in the month of March/April. There is no admission test conducted till class VIII. For classes IX and X, admissions are made on the basis of an Entrance Test and completion of other formalities.

 

Registration for students from other than these three Delhi based Air Force schools is carried out within 10 days of the declaration of class X results by CBSE. All admissions are completed on or before July 31. In exceptional cases, where central government employees with transferrable service, arrive on posting to Delhi after July 31 of a year, admission may be considered with prior approval of competent authority and is again subject to availability of vacancies.

 

Admission to Special Wing is open to the wards of Air Force as well as Non Air Force category. The minimum age requirement is 6+ as on April 1, of the academic session under early intervention program. Admissions are granted after assessing the suitability of the child by the school specialists.

Achievements

The school’s environment club has forged a collaboration with Ministry of Forest and Environment and Director of Environment, NCT Delhi.

 

Students of Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute have won several awards in various sports and co curricular activities at district and state level

 

Special wing children have also brought laurels to the school by winning a large number of medals and prestigious positions in Special Olympics.
