Overview
The name Aadyant – a combination of ‘Adi’ (beginning) and ‘Anth’ (end) – encapsulates the preschool’s philosophy i.e to be associated with a child’s development from the beginning to the end by using well researched and practical pedagogies.
Spread over a campus that sprawls over an acre, the school’s teaching methodology is a combination of Montessori and activity based learning techniques. A school spokesperson sums up the teaching approach as: “Think while playing • Do • Learn”. The curriculum is specially designed to help children hypothesize, theorize, predict, problem solve, construct and document their developing understandings of the world in which they live.
Each class has about 20 students with a student teacher ratio of 1:10 respectively and each student is offered a variety of learning situations and activities based on their interest, developmental stage and learning style.
Campus
The school has a toy-train that travels across the campus with stops at various artificially created junctions that are based on different concepts.
The campus also boasts a skating rink where children above the age of three are taught skating under the guidance of experts. The aim of including skating is to improve self-confidence in students and familiarize them with a sense of balance and poise. The campus is also equipped with a splash pool and a sand pit to develop fine motor skills in the child.
The school has an “Intellectual Development Room” which is equipped with Montessori material for developing hand-eye coordination of students. The room also hosts teaching aids to develop a child’s sense of touch, smell etc and help them learn new concepts. The school’s concept room named “Hamara Ghar” (Our House) is equipped with child-sized replicas of house materials such as kitchen sink, a refrigerator, dining table, dishes and a cooking range. Children are encouraged to role-play in this section, acting as mother or father, brother or sister. According to the school the objective of the concept room is to inculcate good habits, manners and etiquette in children. The school has earthquake resistant infrastructure, huge airy library, and science and computer labs.
Academics
The school’s Early Learning Program for children in the age group of one to two years aims to cater to the child’s needs through sensorial stimulation. The program involves participation of mothers through activities which help strengthen the mother and child bond.
In the Play Group & Pre Nursery program children are engaged in constructive activities that are best suited for their age and are accordingly given different levels. For children above three years of age the school offers Nursery, Kindergarten and Class 1.
Aadyant also offers an extensive range of extra-curricular activities delivered by trained instructors. Field trips, outdoor education and community participation are also a part of the school’s curriculum.
